Places of interest
You can start your walking or cycling tours
straight from the house: in the plain, the
hills or the mountains. In the region there
are many castles (Cathar region), forts
a.o.Villefranche de Conflent) and cloisters.
Spa possibilities nearby: Amélie-les-Bains
nd Le Boulou.
At 12 km lies Céret, an old town, famous for
its Modern Art Museum (a.o. works of Picasso)
and cherries. On Saturdays there’s a bustling
and pleasant market.
Tordères lies on the hillsides of Les Aspres,
in the heart of the wine area of the Côtes du
Roussillon. The A.O.C.’s of the Roussillon are
superb with almost every village having its own
wine tasting cellars. Also “les vins doux naturels”
(sweet dessert wines) such as Rivesaltes and Banyuls
are typical Mediterranean wines. If you enjoy your
wines you will find one here to meet everyone’s
taste.
The main attractions on the coast are Banyuls-sur-
Mer and Collioure.
Beach-lovers will enjoy Argelès-Plage, with its 7 km
sandy beach.
Just across the border, in Spain, lies Figueras with
he famous Dalí Theatre Museum, and the seaside village
of Cadaqués, also well known for its Dalí souvenirs.
Winter sports possibilities (ski and cross-country ski)
in Font-Romeu (Pyrenees 2000) or Andorra.
